About
Ben Cichanski is a Minnesota attorney focused on family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, domestic abuse, and property division. He has represented clients throughout Minnesota in matters ranging from highly personal custody disputes to complex divorces involving substantial assets and business interests.
Ben earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas, where he double-majored in political science and history, before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. During law school, he competed on the trial advocacy team and volunteered with People Serving People and Second Harvest Heartland.
After his admission to the Minnesota Bar in 2016, Ben began his career at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, handling family-law and housing matters and participating in a medical-legal partnership with CentraCare Health’s pediatric clinic. He later served as Robins Kaplan’s Pro Bono Fellow at Legal Aid’s Minneapolis office before moving into private practice.
Ben was drawn to family law because it allows him to help people through some of the most difficult and consequential moments of their lives. He brings empathy and practicality to every matter, providing clients with straightforward advice and strong advocacy both in and out of the courtroom.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys exploring Minneapolis’s restaurant scene and watching and collecting films.
